New Study grop on the Work That Reconnects

I have started a new Meetup group called Active Hope. Our purpose is to study a process called "the Work That Reconnects". This is a specific group of experiential exercises designed to reconnect our relationship to the earth.
Developed by Joanna Macy, its theory and practice are described in the books "Coming Back to Life: Practices to Reconnect Our Lives, Our World", and "Active Hope: How to Face the Mess we'™re in Without Going Crazy". Combining the concepts of deep ecology, systems theory, Buddhist spirituality, a new view of reality arises of our mutual belonging in the web of life, and to powers within us for the healing of our world.

Our current planetary crisis presents us with an opportunity to change the way we think about our relationship to Earth.  A paradigm shift is underway as we wake up to the realization that our needs can be met without destroying our world. Joanna Macy refers to this as the GREAT TURNING and describes it as “the essential adventure of our time: the shift from the industrial growth society to a life sustaining civilization.

The goal of this group is to organize a full workshop for the Work That Reconnects.

Creating a Meetup Group on this topic is a great way to reach people!

Appamada is not just the occasional mindful thought or attentive state of mind, it’s actually a commitment to being attentive. It’s more than just a meditative state of mind, it’s more than just being mindful. It has to do with that primary ethical or moral orientation we have in life, with which we bring into being whatever activity we’re engaged in. Whether in formal meditation, in our interactions with other people, in our social concerns, or in our political choices, it’s the energetic cherishing of what we regard as good.
